WHAT IS THEIR WORK ABOUT?

During the past 15 years he has focused his camera on Viet Nam, Havana, and the Catskill region of New York State, documenting cultures in rapid transition and fading from memory. His work has been exhibited throughout the United States, Europe and Latin America and is represented in several prominent museum and private collections including the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; the Victoria and Albert Museum, London; and many other museums.

WHO IS THE ARTIST?

Craig is a photographer who travels and works using antiquarian processes and focuses on the cultural landscape.  During the past 15 years he has focused his camera on Viet Nam, Havana, and the Catskill region of New York State, documenting cultures in rapid transition and fading from memory.

WHERE ARE THEY FROM?

Craig Barber lives in Woodstock, NY and teaches workshops in pinhole photography and other archaic processes. He has been photographing for over 35 years and teaching for 20 of those years. Craig has taught classes and workshops and Lectured throughout the United States, Europe and Latin America, at the International Center for Photography in New York, the Center for Photography in Woodstock, NY, Charles University in Prague, CZ, and others.

WHAT THEMES ARE IN THEIR WORK?

Craig Barber takes lots of different types of photos. I have found that he takes most of his photos of people or nature. In lots of his photos he has a busy background.

WHAT IS THEIR SUBJECT MATTER?

He makes tintypes, ambrotypes, platinum/palladium prints and wet plate images.
